LIBERTY BARBELL: 1000-LB CLUB CHALLENGE
The ultimate test of raw strength is back. The Liberty Barbell 1000-LB Club is designed for those who want to prove their power across the “Big Three” lifts. Whether you are chasing the 1000-lb milestone or pushing into our elite weight tiers, this is where you earn your place on the leaderboard.
THE CHALLENGE
Find your max cumulative total for the following three lifts, performed in this specific order, within a one-hour time limit:
1-Rep Max Bench Press
1-Rep Max Back Squat
1-Rep Max Deadlift
WEIGHT DIVISION TIERS
We recognize strength at every level. Your total will place you in one of the following official Liberty Barbell divisions:
Liberty 500: 500 lbs – 749 lbs
Liberty 750: 750 lbs – 999 lbs
The 1000-LB Club: 1000 lbs – 1249 lbs
The 1250-LB Elite: 1250 lbs – 1499 lbs
The 1500-LB Legend: 1500 lbs+
HOW TO COMPETE
Register: Sign up through the Liberty Barbell Member Portal or at the front desk.
The Clock: Your 1-hour time cap begins the moment you start your first Bench Press attempt.
The Lifts: All lifts must be performed with proper form (see Movement Standards below).
Verification: For remote entries, video evidence is required. For in-person entries, a Liberty Barbell coach must witness and sign off on the attempts.
MOVEMENT STANDARDS
BENCH PRESS
Start: Arms fully locked out.
The Lift: The bar must touch the chest. No bouncing or "heaving."
Finish: Bar must be pressed back to full lockout.
Feet/Glutes: Feet must remain flat on the floor; glutes must remain in contact with the bench throughout the lift.
BACK SQUAT
Depth: The hip crease must clearly pass below the top of the knee (Parallel or deeper).
Control: Lifter must start and finish in a fully upright, locked position.
Gear: Knee sleeves and belts are permitted. Squat suits or knee wraps are not allowed for the "Raw" division.
DEADLIFT
Execution: Conventional or Sumo stance is permitted.
The Finish: Knees and hips must be fully locked out with shoulders back.
Disqualification: No "hitching" or resting the bar on the thighs (ramping). You must control the bar back to the floor.
EQUIPMENT & RULES
Barbells: Use a standard 45 lb or 35 lb Olympic barbell.
Plates: All weights must be clearly marked. At Liberty Barbell, we prefer the use of our calibrated plates for accuracy.
Supportive Gear: Belts, wrist wraps, and knee sleeves are allowed. Lifting straps are prohibited for the deadlift.
The T-Shirt: Successful inductees into the 1000-LB Club (and above) will receive an exclusive Liberty Barbell 1000-LB Club Member shirt.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS (FOR REMOTE ATHLETES)
One Video: All three lifts must be recorded.
Clear View: The camera must show a clear angle of the depth (squat), chest touch (bench), and lockout (deadlift).
Weight Verification: Show the plates and the bar on camera before or after the lift to confirm the total weight.
